Keystrokes per hour (KPH) is just a more precise metric than words per minute typed. You can now be a professional typist! 70 wpm: You are way above average! What is KPH typing? 60 wpm: This is the speed required for most high-end typing jobs. Typing Speed Chart 10 wpm: At this speed, your typing speed is way below average, and you should focus on proper typing technique (explained below). A good keystroke per hour is around 10,000 keystrokes, but the average user score is approximately 8,000 keystrokes per hour. Words vary in length, so typing speed calculated per hour is more accurate and provides better insights. If you typed 200 characters in 30 seconds your net speed would be (200/5) / 0.5 = 80 WPM. To give an example, if you typed 200 characters in 1 minute, your net wpm typing speed would be (200 characters / 5) / 1 min = 40 WPM. Simply count all typed entries and divide by five to get the number of words typed.
